Where to enjoy Afternoon Tea in Staffordshire

Please share

One of my favourite British traditions in an indulgent afternoon tea. The teeny tiny sandwiches, the creatively decorated slices of cake and of course the essential scone on the side are one of the best treats we do. I’m always on the look out for new places to try locally so here are my ultimate venues for Afternoon Tea in Staffordshire.

Weston Hall

Afternoon tea should be an occasion, it should feel indulgent and you should be able to order exactly what you like. Weston Hall has pretty much all tastes covered. They offer a traditional afternoon tea, a savoury selection, a chocoholics dream and many more. There’s even a takeaway option if you fancy creating your own stylish picnic. Sandwich flavours include Salmon and cracked black pepper and Cucumber, cream cheese and chives and cakes include Cherry bakewells and Sticky toffee sponge cake.

If you’re trying to be good then Weston Hall offers a Guilt Free afternoon tea with nutritious, wholefood options. There really is no excuse!

Prices for afternoon tea at Weston Hall start from £21.95 but I really recommend adding a glass of champagne which takes the price up to £30.50.

World of Wedgwood

Probably the prettiest place in Staffordshire for Afternoon tea, is the World of Wedgwood. Home to one of the countries finest potteries, the Wedgwood Tea Room serves an amazing spread alongside impressive interior design. To accompany your afternoon tea you can sample some of Wedgwoods 14 loose leaf tea blends. Britains favourite hot beverage has never tasted better! Sandwich flavours include Pulled Staffordshire ham hock with grain mustard piccalilli and Roast chicken with a walnut and grain mustard mayonnaise. Gluten and meat free options can also be catered for. Sweet treats include Chickpea and coconut pavlova topped with fresh seasonal berries and Almond sponge steeped with clementine syrup, orange curd buttercream.

After your visit to the tea room, the Wedgwood museum and grounds are well worth a visit. You could even book yourself in for a creative pot throwing experience.

Afternoon tea at the World of Wedgwood starts at just £25 per person.

Moddershall Oaks

Moddershall Oaks is one of my favourite spa hotels in Staffordshire. But did you know it also serves a fantastic afternoon tea. It’s sophisticated and special with staff more than happy to answer questions you may have. They offer a few varieties of afternoon teas with a classic menu, champagne afternoon tea and have recently launched a vegan afternoon tea. Sandwich flavours include Mature Cheddar and Spring onion mayo on brown bloomer and cucumber and mint cream cheese. Whilst sweet treats include Tiramisu espresso cups and mini lemon meringue pies.

Afternoon tea at Moddershall Oaks starts at £22.95 and you can upgrade to a champagne tea for £33.

Moat House Stoke

One the whole family can get involved in is at the Best Western Moat House in Stoke on Trent. They offer traditional afternoon teas throughout the year but really ramp up the festivities near Christmas. Serving their princess afternoon teas where parents and kids can enjoy this great British tradition together with friends without breaking the bank.

The Apple Tree at Barton Marina

The Apple Tree cafe at Barton Marina is one of the sweetest coffee shops in Staffordshire. It’s located just out of the town of Barton under Needwood at the marina. This is a lovely place to spend a few hours before or after your afternoon tea.

The Apple tree just oozes elegance with its’ comfy sofas and baby grand. Alongside an extensive brunch and lunch menu they offer three types of afternoon tea. “Traditional” with tea or coffee for £17.50 per person, “champagne” with a glass of bubbles for £22.50 per person or my personal favourite “cheese and wine” which is exactly as it sounds – divine!

The Marina is just down the road from the Dunstall Estate, a beautiful place for a long walk in the countryside.

Swinfen Hall Hotel

Located just outside of Lichfield, Swinfen Hall is a gorgeous 4 star hotel. It has some beautiful views of the surrounding Staffordshire countryside. They sure do know how to put on a spread with a fabulous champagne afternoon tea for two. The offer includes a glass of Taittinger Brut Reserve for just £36 per person. Regular afternoon tea is just £25 and includes savouries, scones and deserts. Gluten free tea is also available. Currently afternoon tea is available at Swinfen Hall between Thursday and Sunday. I love that they offer gift vouchers which would make a perfect treat for a loved one.
